Jimmy Carter Work Project
|
This major project (31 houses in one week) was one of Habitat Detroit's most
important efforts of 2005. Habitat Detroit accomodated 2000 volunteers participating from all over the world in this
aggressive home building blitz here in Detroit. GPPartners co-sponsored one house, and fielded
a few dozen volunteers for full week, half week, and single day construction activities.
The Partners house is 24th at Magnolia, and the new homeowner received her keys at the dedication on
the afternoon of the last day of the project. We were all very excited to participate in
this once-in-a-lifetime project right in our own city. Several of us also met former president Carter,
and were duly impressed with the Carters' committment to 20 years of building Habitat houses worldwide.

Habitat Detroit Annual Awards Dinner
|
Habitat Detroit held an evening of celebration, recognition,
and fellowship. Reception held at the Atheneum Suites Hotel, Detroit.

Dedication of Brucker-Williams House
|
The dedication resulted in a wonderful turnout and a terrific time. The bus ride,
ceremony, and luncheon went very smoothly. Lots of neighbors showed up which was nice.
The new homeowner received a hand blown glass vase as a housewarming gift. The
family also received a tool box (tools for the house) and a bible (tools for life.) Review
photos taken at the event.
